Michigan State Police UPSET arrests a Calumet man and Atlantic mine woman in Chippewa County for suspected drug trafficking.
Over a several-month investigation, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team for a 40-year-old man from Calumet distributed methamphetamine in Houghton County. On November 2nd, UPSET detectives, in coordination with MSP Traffic Safety and Sault Tribal Police, stopped the man and a 39-year-old Atlantic mine female in Mackinaw County for a traffic stop. Probable cause allowed officers to search the vehicle. Law enforcement discovered 2000 dollars in cash, paraphernalia, and one pound of crystal methamphetamine. Both suspects have been lodged in the Mackinac County Jail pending arraignment.
On Monday UPSET conducted a search of the Calumet man’s home in Houghton County, alongside the Houghton County Sheirff, and MSP Calumet Post. In the search of the residence, police found additional evidence related to drug distribution and 1500 dollars in cash. The suspects’ names have been withheld while the investigation remains ongoing.
