College Basketball
The Michigan Tech basketball teams swept Northern Michigan in a pair of close matches last night.
The women’s team built a 13-point halftime lead, only to see the Wildcats come back to build a two-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. The Huskies dominated the fourth quarter, and wrapped up a 64-59 victory. Kendall Standfest scored 15 points for the Huskies, and Janie Tormanen added 14. Abi Fraaza netted 18 for Northern.
The 22nd-ranked men’s team nearly blew a 17-point lead, but held on to edge the Wildcats 67-64. Marcus Tomashek paced the Huskies with 21 points, including two late free throws to seal the win. Dylan Kuehl scored 19 for NMU.
Both Tech teams will play at Roosevelt University in Chicago tomorrow.
Both NMU teams have the weekend off.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team hosts Ferris State tonight at 7:07, and tomorrow at 6:07.
The NMU hockey squad entertains St. Thomas tonight and tomorrow night.
Great Lakes Hockey League
The Portage Lake Pioneers visit the De Pere Deacons tonight, and the Fox Cities Ice Dogs tomorrow night.
The Calumet Wolverines visit the Sun Prairie Killer Bees this evening, and the Dane County Dairy Kings tomorrow evening.
NHL

Youth Hockey
The Copper Country Junior Hockey Association is asking for help to send two of its teams to the state finals next weekend. The Portage Lake Flyers 10U and 12U AA teams are holding a returnables drive. Drop your contributions off at the trailer in the Festival Foods parking lot in Houghton today or tomorrow.
