GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers will play for the Great Lakes Hockey League tournament title today.
After routing the Sun Prairie Killer Bees 22-1 Friday, the Pioneers won their pool with an 8-1 win over the Fox Cities Ice Dogs Saturday, then dispatched the Ice Dogs again in the semifinals 11-5.
Portage Lake will face the Fond du lac Bears in the championship game this afternoon at 1:00 Eastern Time in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
College Hockey
Western Michigan University has reached the Frozen Four. The Broncos edged Massachusetts 2-1 Saturday to win the Fargo regional. The Broncos will face Boston University in a semifinal game April 10th. The Terriers ousted Cornell 3-2 to win the Toledo Regional.
The other semifinalists will be decided today…
- At the Manchester Regional, Boston College plays Denver.
- At the Saint Louis Regional, Connecticut takes on Penn State.
NHL
Cam Talbot made 20 saves, as the Red Wings slipped past the Bruins 2-1 Saturday night. Marco Kasper and Lucas Raymond scored.
The Wings visit the Blues Tuesday.
NBA
The Pistons visit the Timberwolves this evening.
The Bucks host the Hawks tonight.
MLB
The Tigers fell to 0-3 with a 7-3 loss to the Dodgers Saturday night. Reese Olson left in the fifth inning, and was charged with four runs on four hits.
The Tigers have today off, and visit the Mariners tomorrow. Jackson Jobe will start against Emerson Hancock. Coverage will begin at 9:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers suffered an ugly 20-9 loss to the Yankees Saturday. The Bronx Bombers lived up to their nickname, blasting a team-record nine home runs – three by Aaron Judge. Five came off starter Nester Cortes, who gave up eight runs over two innings. Connor Thomas relieved him, and gave up eight more runs over the next two frames. Brice Turang homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers wrap up that series in New York this afternoon. Aaron Civale will pitch against Marcus Stroman.
